Replica Tag Heuer Aquaracer

The fairly thick sapphire crystal is slightly convex and rounds out the top of the watch in class, offering an undistorted view of the dial at literally any angle. The double-sided anti-reflective coating is top of the class, you have to turn the watch around quite a lot to even see some reflection and under some angles it the makes the crystal disappear altogether. There are also no color hues to it. The see-through case back has a slightly raised flat sapphire crystal, giving a good view of the adequately finished movement. Omega has even labeled the two spring barrels as "BARREL ONE" and "BARREL TWO" hammering home the message. There are three reasons why I generally like see-through case backs. First, they provide some welcome entertainment on those occasions when you find yourself idly waiting without anything to read. Second, I found that the silky smoothness of the crystal is more pleasant to the wrist than almost any metal. Third, on an automatic watch it is the perfect visual aid should you want to explain to the uninitiated what an automatic movement is.

The conventional wisdom is that retailers want to sell you things, not buy your things. It is a bit strange from a consumer perspective to to be "sold" on the idea of "selling" your goods, but that is exactly what is happening in a big way when it comes to luxury watches. An article of mine just got published on Forbes.com that discusses how and why companies are looking to buy your watch, and why this is perhaps the most booming area in the watch world today.

So when can you get one? The good news is, not too long from now. Motorola and Google promise that the Moto 360 will be commercially available in the Summer of 2014, with additional details coming soon. Further, the Android Wear OS will be available for developers before that.

While this article is likely going to publish on Father's Day, it is being written a few months earlier in March of 2014. The reason is because in a sense this is my eulogy to my own father, who passed away somewhat unexpectedly a few days ago. He was always proud of aBlogtoWatch and became very interested in timepieces during the years of my life that I spent developing and building the site which today has grown above any beyond my own efforts. It seems fitting that today aBlogtoWatch not only honor him, but also everyone's father who had a role in developing and encouraging the passions and interests that they have.

4. Cleaning your watch is as simple as using a little bit of mild soap and gently warm water. Sonic jewelry cleaners and very hot water can damage them.

Welcome to a new series on aBlogtoWatch where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. We spend a lot of time here talking about the watches we think are cool or that we would recommend buying, but little time advising people where to buy them. Until now. Each of these stores has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to.

ABTW: Was there ever a time in your life when you could afford it?

The detail of the subdials, diamond-cut watch hands, and indices are very legible and the text is easy to read. I really enjoy the orange highlights on the minute hand, bezel, and on the crown used to adjust the bezel. I get the most compliments on the watch face. This watch also has an internal bi-directional bezel which is easy to manipulate, and can be used to log the start of your descent time on your dive. Living near cold water, it may be challenging to manipulate the bezel with wet or dry gloves, so I would recommend using this watch on your warm weather holiday.

When looking for something simple, clean, and Germanic, I have to say that I am much more drawn to designs such as this than say, the popular Bauhaus look that people look for at Nomos. The neighborhood competitors make a fine watch, but it is difficult to beat the sheer functional DNA that a piece like the M 29 Small Second watch has. I don't even think pieces were ready by the time these pictures were released. Look closely and it appears that someone took an image of the standard M 29 with a central seconds hand and digitally changed it to make space for the subsidiary seconds (small second) hand.

In the early 2000s, when Max Busser was heading the watch division at Harry Winston he instituted the Opus collection, where Harry Winston collaborated with high-end independent watch makers to produce amazingly complex limited edition men's watches. It was a bit out of character for a brand known for diamond-studded timepieces and other items of elegance. The Opus collection helped spawn some other interesting men's collections in the brand as well as the Histoire de Tourbillon–which I always called "Opus light" (though not "light" from a price perspective).

The consequence is that while prospective buyers from this larger group may have the funds and the interest to buy into a highly complicated brand like Greubel Forsey, chances are that some of them are steering away for better known companies for fear of lack of actual usability and practicality - if you can speak of such things when it comes to half a million dollar watches, that is.

Now, the company has announced that the next run of 16 watches will be in titanium. As befits the watch, the titanium case will be bead-blasted and polished. The 4N MVT-01/D01 is by no means a petite watch, so we reckon also that the titanium version of this watch will be much more comfortable to wear.

I quite like what they did with the case design. They could have gone with a simple polished case, and no one would have complained. Instead they have a complex mix of polished, brushed etchings and a milled mid-case groove. There's some confidence and panache going on here, and I like it.

As it is with the also new Romain Jerome 1969 collection, the Skylab has a somewhat new case for the brand. The 1969 collection pieces are a hair smaller at 43mm wide with a slightly different case (and are generally a bit more dressy), but the 44mm wide Romain Jerome Skylab case is still very wearable and mixes the boldness you come to expect from a Romain Jerome case in what feels like a slimmer package.

Case: Stainless steel, diameter 44 mm, cambered sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides, see-through sapphire case back, water-resistant to 30 m

For those doubting the risk to the divers, I'll share a quick quote from the Red Bull Cliff Diving literature - "A pancake landing from such heights can be compared with a hard landing from 43 feet on concrete." The impact that the male divers experience when they enter the water is some nine times harder than that of a 10M jump. I've jumped from a 10M board and I would describe the part where my flailing body hit the water as decidedly noticeable, if a bit uncomfortable. Multiplying that impact by nine times would put it somewhere in the "car accident" range of damage for someone who didn't know what they were doing (yo). Even with their training and elite skills, the divers still experience pain and extended soreness in the days following the events.

LK: While working with Universal Geneve on restoration and sales, I began collecting Tri-compax and other vintage chronographs. Our family shop specializes in high grade service and sales representing many great brands, so I had opportunity to see and work first hand daily with the worlds greatest timepieces. This is what first taught me about watches and inspired me to one day be able to build watches.

Is Apple planning to use sapphire crystal for the iWatch?  What about other devices such as the iPhone (that already uses some sapphire crystal parts)? We know Apple is working on a watch, but no one is quite clear on what it will look or be like. We wrote about the iWatch almost a year ago predicting its release before there was even confirmed news about it. We've also seen iPod nanos dressed up as a watch, and we've seen quotes from Apple board member Bill Campbell saying "when you start to think about glasses or watches, they become as intimate as the cellphone was."

Now that SIHH is behind us, we must look forward to Baselworld and H. Moser & Cie. has introduced a new version of their Perpetual Calendar watch, the Perpetual Calendar Black Edition. Unique to this watch is its DLC-coated titanium case- a first for the company, and for the watch, which was previously offered only in rare metals such as rose gold, white gold, and platinum.
