You may or may not know who Laurent Picciotto is, but if you look at watch marketing online at all you will at least recognize the face. In addition to owning and running the Paris based Chronopassion, he is a serious voice in the high-end watch world and very online social-networking savvy. He is also a really nice guy. I met him at SIHH, which was pretty cool. You can check out a lot of what Laurent does at his Facebook page here.
Inside the watch is a calibre JR1000 movement. It is an automatic, and in-house made I believe. Movement has 33 jewels and a reasonable power reserve of 48 hours. Of course the crystal is sapphire and the case is water resistant to 100 meters. Pretty typical for the line, but it is still highly acceptable for this semi diver style watch line. You can even consider them baby Girard Perregaux watches if you like (part of the same company). The JeanRichard 2TimeZones Zirconium is limited to just 249 pieces (odd number). Price is about ,000 - ,000 if I recall correctly. Not sure the number of pieces for the non limited editions. Should be available now or soon.

Each Sparrow Hawk watch is individually numbered as well - adding to their collectibility. Wearing the watch for a while I found is very easy to live with and read. It could be a fun mechanical watch that you like to wear on special occasions or even as a daily wear. Especially good for fans of the aviator look, but don't want a larger watch. From zero straight to the Sparrowhawk as their first model, Techne looks poised for some interesting pieces in the future as well. For now, the delightful little fighting Sparrowhawk watch goes for about 5 - 5 depending on the strap. A competitive price given the market and availability of watches like this.
Wearing the U 1001 I feel pretty cool. I don't know if this is because I keep hearing the cool music that U-Boat has on their website and pondering the sophisticated marketing campaigns they employ, or if I am genuinely moved by their clever designs. It is funny, because no matter how many silly things I find in the watch, I still like it. Which goes back to my concept of it being like a muscle car. It is totally unwise for me to think about driving in stop and go California traffic in that dream '69 GTO Judge, but I think I would look pretty kick ass in the process.

You'll find that despite the complexity of the techie looking dial, the time is really easy to read through the proper windows. The tread with the seconds indicators on it is constantly moving horizontally on the lower dial. It makes a noise that sounds like a bionic quartz watch. To make a smaller watch with less power consumption, Devon is also working on a Tread 2 model that only shows the hours and minutes. No release or schedule for completion has been set for the Tread 2 however.
Buying one of the Mission Earth Edition Adventure Ecology watches gets you a special watch case as well. It is made from the same recycled srPET plastic bottle material that the Plaskiti is mostly made from. The high grade rubber strap is ultra comfortable, and the bright colors feel light-hearted and fun — another Ingenieur personality in a range of pieces. The steel cased watch is water resistant to 1,200 meters, is antimagnetic, highly shock absorbent, and contains the IWC in-house made automatic caliber 80110 movement. There are scant other high performance and cool looking high-end watches out there dedicated to the active environmentalist movement. Plus, after spending some time playing with the very easy to use and read design, I am sold on the Ingenieur watch line in general.

Joe Biden is clearly the biggest watch lover of this trio. While Obama has a number of watches (I know, because I am told all the time by watch brands what models they give him). Here, he is wearing a first generation Tissot T-Touch watch on a rubber strap. You can click that link for a product page where you can see more specs and get one. It retails for 0 - being the priciest of the trio, but interestingly the least formal. On a rubber strap with all of its outdoors functions, this is a sports watch that is a good gadget piece as well. Biden is almost always seen with sport watches, they fit his personality. Interestingly enough, in comparison to the other watches, Biden's looks to be a few minutes behind (or Obama and Kagan's watches are a few minutes ahead). I wonder what that says about Biden?
